AnnaRelationship Manager at the Inspiring Travel Company
Returning to the UK following an eight-year stint in Australia, I decided it was time for a change in career.
The world of finance no longer held the excitement it once had and it was time to work in something that I was truly passionate about.
Over the years, I have spent a large proportion of my savings on adventures across multiple continents and so the move into the travel industry seemed like it could be the perfect new direction for me; I made the switch three years ago and have never looked back! I absolutely love sharing my knowledge with clients and learning about new countries so that I can put together truly bespoke itineraries that will create happy memories for many years to come.
I wholeheartedly believe that travel broadens the mind and offers truly life-enhancing experiences, and so I feel very lucky to be able to play a part in this for my clients.
Australia will always have a very special place in my heart after all the years I spent there. It is a country that offers something for everyone as it is so vast with a huge amount of diversity in the landscape. What it lacks in history, it more than makes up for in the beautiful beaches, stunning waterfalls, lush rainforest and breathtaking wilderness. The food and wine scene is exceptional and they also do a great job of hosting sports and music events!
It would be true to say that I am also a complete sucker for a harbour city! San Francisco, Sydney and Lisbon would all make my list of favourite cities – there is something about being near a huge expanse of water whilst still having the buzz of a bustling city that I absolutely love.
Take a reusable water bottle with you to cut down on the amount of plastic that you get through, and to keep you hydrated on the plane!
If travelling to a non-English speaking country, try to learn a few phrases that you are likely to need. Most locals will appreciate the fact that you are making the effort to try and speak the same language as them, even if your pronunciation isn’t quite up to scratch!
