Being at the forefront of luxury travel, we’re well-placed to spot trends in our industry. So at the start of 2014, here are our top tips, trends, news and must-see destinations from the world of luxury travel this year:

Hot off the press

The wait is nearly over: the Pink Sands Club on Canouan in the Caribbean will be open to guests in 2014. The resort, from one of the same owners who created the legendary Sandy Lane, promises to be the ultimate in luxury and looks set to be one of the world’s most exclusive resorts.

…to the ABAMA Golf & Spa Resort in Tenerife, whose signature restaurant M.B has just been awarded its second Michelin star. Dishes on the menu to tempt you include ‘Line-caught hake, served vichyssoise, truffle pearls and tomato fog’ – scrumptious!

Celebrity favourite

The rich and famous have a new playground…the Greek Islands. We have it on good authority that celebrities are flocking to the islands of Mykonos and Santorini in particular - which is perhaps why we’ve seen a surge in honeymooners choosing these luxurious spots for their post-wedding holiday. For your own Grecian honeymoon, or holiday, just a few hours flight from home, we suggest the chic resorts of Grace Mykonos or Grace Santorini, or a duel-trip staying at both. They’re certain to impress.

Family time

Dubai is becoming increasingly recognised as a holiday destination for families and it’s little wonder with the wealth of activities there are to do there. On a recent trip to the region I reported back on how the hotels had thought of all the little details (like Egyptian-cotton sheets for my baby’s cot!) which added those luxurious elements to our family holiday.
We’ve also just had word that the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray is proving a popular spot for families due to its inter-connecting rooms and luxury ‘Residences’ – four and five-bedroom villas located around a lagoon pool.

Join an exclusive club

Our congratulations go to the iconic travelling experience that is the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, which has been named 'Europe's Leading Luxury Train' at the World Travel Awards 2013 - for the third year running! With the train operating just twice a week, this remains one of the exclusive luxury experiences and makes for the perfect short break to celebrate a special occasion, especially when combined with one of Venice’s landmark hotels.

Après ski

Here at ITC we love a skiing break, particularly in Europe where the season has already had piste-perfect conditions this winter. Check out our offers for Verbier and Zermatt for swish slopes just a few hours flight from home; 2014 conditions are predicted to be excellent.

Down under

We’ve heard on the grapevine here at ITC HQ that the iconic Hayman Island resort is re-opening as the One&Only Hayman Island in July 2014, following a multi-million dollar renovation. We can’t wait to see the results at this idyllic Whitsunday escape.

Mile-high luxury

When I went out to Dubai last November I experienced my first flight on the Emirates A380 – which I thoroughly enjoyed. The aircraft is exceptional and an ideal way to start your travels. First Class includes your own private suite and spa shower, Business Class allows you to recline on the flat-beds, as well as to have access to the trendy bar, while Economy Class has extra room with in-flight Wifi throughout…making a flight on the A380 my ‘must-do’ for your 2014 luxury travel.

And finally…

Happy 40th Birthday to us! We’re thrilled to be celebrating four decades as a leading luxury travel provider, remaining an independent, family-run business throughout.
Many Happy Returns, Team!
