A luxury Bahamas holiday in the Caribbean

On my recent trip to the Bahamas we arrived to a bright and spacious airport and were transferred to Paradise Island which is only 30 minutes away. We were driven through the immaculate manicured gardens and arrived at the Atlantis Resort to be greeted by a Junkanoo carnival artist!

The Atlantis resort is a magical, fun filled family resort divided into five hotels to cater for every budget.

Our first experience was to dine in Olives, one of the newest additions. The Italian food was delicious and I highly recommend the local cocktail Bahama Mama!

I woke up early the next morning to take advantage of the cooler weather and went for a morning run along the beach. As the sun started to rise I took in the magnificent views and couldn't wait to explore more of what Atlantis has to offer.

The resort is great value for money offering complimentary access to their Aquaventre water park, abundance of marine life exhibitions, a cinema showing free movies daily, 20 different dining options and over 10 swimming pools to choose from. Not forgetting the three stunning white sandy beaches and free concerts on the beach with popular headliners such as Alicia Keys and Bruno Mars.

The teens' club 'Crush' is the best I have ever seen, making parents wish they were young enough to enter! This is an exclusive club for 13-17 year olds with state of the art technology featuring a gaming stadium and dance nightclub, not forgetting the best mocktails in the Caribbean. The kids' club is 8000 sq ft of high-tech fun including imagination stations such as the story telling tree, cookie making lessons and arts and crafts.

Parents can be entertained too with a large casino, Aura nightclub and theatre along with several bars to sip cocktails and mingle with friends.

Atlantis is also famous for Dolphin Cay which is one of the largest dolphin and sea lion habitats in the world. This was the best day of the trip, where I got to participate in a shallow water interaction with a friendly bottlenose dolphin. He showed off his spins and jumps and even posed for a few pictures, I was slightly apprehensive at first but it was such an amazing experience I'm so glad I had the opportunity to do it.

The following afternoon I had the chance to visit One&Only Ocean Club. This is just a few minutes away from Atlantis by car. This idyllic hideaway is the perfect luxury retreat to relax and unwind. The resort felt like a private club and I was very lucky to spend the afternoon like a celebrity hiding away in paradise. The Versailles Gardens (a breathtaking wedding venue) were absolutely stunning, with a beautiful walk through which takes you to the adult-only pool and state of the art gym. The service was personal and discrete with your butler on hand to attend to your every need. Complimentary tea and coffee is served in the library in the mornings followed by a glass of Champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries at turn down service. The rooms are split between two parts, the Crescent wing and Hartford wing and offer differing styles.

I personally preferred the Hartford wing for its inviting decor, however the Crescent wing rooms are much larger and offer impressive bathrooms more suitable for families. This was a very elegant colonial style property and from the moment I arrived I felt at home and was very sad to leave!

The Bahamas is a beautiful place filled with lovely people, stunning beaches and fantastic facilities. I can't wait to return.
