Sandy Lane is one of the world’s most impressive and celebrated luxury resorts. On a recent trip our Sales Consultant Kelsey Froggett found out why…
As I arrived at Sandy Lane I immediately knew I was in paradise on my holiday to Barbados. As soon as my group and I reached the resort we were greeted with a warm Bajan welcome and a classic rum punch. The resort boasts some seriously impressive sea views, and I couldn’t take my eyes off them! But then I saw my room…
I was lucky enough to be staying in a Luxury Ocean Room. The extremely spacious room was light and airy and beautifully decorated. Every room and suite at Sandy Lane has a private balcony; mine overlooked the azure sea and sandy beach but was guaranteed privacy with shade provided by tall trees.
The resort is instantly soothing, with friendly staff and a relaxed ambience. The Spa at Sandy Lane is an excellent option for guests who want a little bit more relaxation, with a seemingly endless list of treatments and world-class facilities. There’s a set menu of treatments or the option to create a bespoke collection personalised to your needs. Once you’ve finished your treatments, visit the Spa Café for a light and refreshing lunch.
Dining here is an absolute treat. The L’Acajou restaurant provides fine dining in a stunning beachfront setting. Dine here for refined French and Mediterranean food, or try Bajan Blue for a more relaxed atmosphere with all-day dining, themed buffet evenings and a spectacular Sunday brunch.
Sandy Lane also offers guests the opportunity to take part in some fantastic experiences, perfect for the whole family. During my stay I got the chance to experience the Seaduced Catamaran, which is chartered each Wednesday from the resort. As there are limited places on this exclusive excursion I would definitely recommend booking a space in advance, although the boat can be privately pre-booked for any day. The Catamaran took us along the scenic West Coast, where we were able to snorkel with turtles and even explore a shipwreck. Lunch was provided on board, and we were served a fantastic selection of meats, fish, salads and desserts by the extremely friendly staff.
Sandy Lane’s Guest Services Manager, Alpha, recommended a trip to the Animal Flower Caves at North Point. This is certainly a hidden gem and a great option for guests looking for something a little out of the ordinary. It’s a great experience for families and couples, but isn’t suitable for those with walking difficulties. The caves are fascinating, with knowledgeable guides who give visitors a tour, and there’s also the option to swim in the lakes and enjoy the panoramic views out over the Atlantic. Once you’ve explored, grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink at the clifftop bar and restaurant and watch the sunset
Everything about my stay at Sandy Lane was luxurious, and I’d definitely recommend it for those looking for decadent relaxation, first-class service and fascinating experiences. It’s a great resort for families of all ages, couples or any travellers looking for the ultimate luxury experience.
