After a recent trip to Abu Dhabi, our Marketing Executive Emma Barzu tells us why her stay at the Yas Viceroy was so special...
My first trip to Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways was exhilarating; from the moment the plane started to descend we could see the thousands of coloured lights of The Yas Viceroy against the surrounding sky, sea and desert. We disembarked and there was a buzz in the air; we could not wait to get this iconic hotel!
Following a quick and easy check-in, I entered my room…wow! The interiors were spacious and streamlined, and the views were truly stunning. From the balcony there was a fantastic view of the Yas Marina Formula One Circuit and the surrounding Marina. No wonder so many petrol-heads choose this as their base for the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix!
We then headed to the Skylite Bar, enjoying a cocktail in this luminous bar is on the 9th floor of the resort that enjoys yet more brilliant views of the racetrack and Marina. Our second stop was ladies night at RUSH nightclub; the only nightclub in the world that is over a F1 racetrack, which was great fun. On a Thursday they offer free entry and complimentary champagne for ladies!
On the first full day in Abu Dhabi, we headed for a day for the private beach club set on the shores of Yas Island. We were picked up from the reception by the hotel shuttle that runs every 15 minutes. Yas Beach is a great day out for all; the beach club provides a full service of food and drinks, which enabled us all to relax and enjoy white sands and warm water.
The next day we headed for Ferrari World - the world's largest indoor theme park. I was full of anxiety and excitement when faced with the prospect of going on the fastest rollercoaster in the world, Formula Rossa. The rollercoaster goes from 0-240km in 4.9 seconds – it is a must do for any thrill-seeker! Following this we headed to Yas Mall for some high street and high end shopping followed by an Italian meal for lunch. From cinema viewings to Mexican food, Yas Mall offers something for everyone.
On our final evening at the Yas Viceory, we enjoyed an Arabic-Mediterranean banquet at ATAYEB restaurant - one of the six restaurants within the resort - with thanks to Chef Wafaeli Al Zaham. The fusion of flavours was incredible and the service was exceptional. We sat outside the restaurant and watched the race cars drift around the Marina Circuit, the energy was electric. The restaurant serves dinner from 7pm – 1am daily and they also offer cooking classes.
Following a fantastic trip, we headed back to the UK with Etihad Airways, the service, food and experience was faultless.
