All Things Nice: Spice Island Highlights

We pride ourselves on having an exceptionally well-travelled team and our ability to offer first-hand insight on the resorts, hotels and holidays we sell. With that in mind, we thought we’d ask some of our team for their top tips and best-loved experiences at Spice Island in Grenada, one of our favourite Caribbean resorts.

“There are lots of things to love about Spice Island. The food is of a very high standard and I believe the cuisine rivals any international à la carte restaurants. The Spice Island team are very clever with including delicious, local produce – think nutmeg ice cream, coconut yoghurt and more, all homemade. Suites are spacious, very tastefully decorated and come with a whole host of small touches to make your holiday easier (repellent spray, after-sun, umbrellas for any sudden showers, a mini-bar stocked with your favourite drinks). The beachfront accommodation is fantastic – sunrise and sunset strolls all the way along the beach are superb additions to any holiday day. The staff are so friendly, and really get to know you; during my stay they remembered our favourite drinks at cocktail time, and even that our daughter is partial to a bowl of cherries!”

“Along with my favourite hotel in New York, Spice Island is the only other hotel I’ve visited multiple times. I’ve stayed there as a couple and as a family with my newborn baby and both were exceptional experiences. Spice Island delivered against all my expectations and needs as a new mum; my little boy enjoyed his cuddles from all the team, and especially Sir Royston (Hopkin, Owner and Chairman)!  As you can see, he loved chilling out and relaxing on Grand Anse Beach! The layout and location of the Seagrape Beach Suites are perfect for guests travelling with children – they have direct access to the beautifully soft sand and warm waters of Grand Anse, making for a very relaxing holiday indeed.”

Spice Island is privately owned and run by a family, so you get excellent service during your stay. The resort has a central location on Grand Anse Beach – a beautiful stretch of sand and a real quintessential Caribbean landscape. I love the beachfront Seagrape Suites – room facilities here include toasters and even Amazon Echos for the ultimate in convenience. Some accommodation options include private pools, which are really generously-sized. The whole resort is set amongst stunning gardens and the new yoga pavilion is perfect for relaxing – there are complimentary sessions twice a week, and you can also book private lessons. For more ‘getting away from it all’ I recommend the beautiful Janissa’s Spa for soothing treatments and therapies.”

“The beachfront accommodation here is amazing – you wake up and walk straight out onto the pristine sand of the most amazing stretch of beach. Plus, enjoying afternoon tea on your balcony with these views is unforgettable. The all-inclusive package here is five-star, and includes amazing food and a full choice of drinks, so you don’t need to worry about anything but relaxing. Speaking of relaxing, I’d recommend indulging in a treatment or two at the spa – we had a couple’s massage which was perfect for unwinding. In the evenings you can enjoy wonderful live music, which creates a really traditional Caribbean atmosphere. The ultimate highlight here though has to be the service – Spice Island is family-owned, and it shows in the personalised level of service.”
