Caribbean prize makes a big splash for charity

Last week Inspiring Travel Company joined forces with the stunning Petit St Vincent in St Vincent and the Grenadines, donating a Caribbean holiday of a lifetime to an auction held in aid of the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.

The event took place in the Butchers Hall, London at the Old Pangbournian Societies annual dinner, with guest of honour Iain Percy OBE. Former pupils of Andrew Simpson’s school, Pangbourne College, raised a whopping £16,000 for the charity, with other prizes including a day’s sailing with skipper Sir Ben Ainslie and his J.P Morgan BAR X40 team.

The charity was founded by Sir Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy OBE and Andrew’s wife Leah after the tragic death of Olympic Gold Medalist Andrew 'Bart' Simpson whilst out training for the 34th Americas Cup in May 2013. The foundation works to honour Andrew’s life and legacy by encouraging youngsters into sailing and to enjoy the water as much as he did. At grassroots level it encourages children to visit their local sailing clubs and ‘give it a try’ by providing equipment and coaching, with support from Olympic medalist regional mentors.

On the 21st September 2014 at 11am the foundation is aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for 'The Largest Sailing Race' in the World Ever. They are calling it 'Bart's Bash' with over 500 clubs taking part and the aim of attracting 1000 clubs in total. We do hope you can get involved too!
