DANCING TO THE BEAT IN CAPE TOWN

Richard Nurse | 27 Jan, 2015

Our weekly update from Cape Town, where Destination Manager Richard Nurse has been sampling the local fare and tapping his feet to the music…

Well folks, another great week and the sun is still shining here in Cape Town.

The restaurants have been really busy and have been offering fresh tuna on most of their menus as there has been an abundance of the fish caught this last week. As I said, Cape Town restaurants have been really busy recently and all of our clients that I have met while out here cannot believe what good value for money everything is. Dining out, for all, has been a real treat.

But it’s not only the restaurants that attract lots of interest. It’s things like the open-air concerts too. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens have started their Sunday evening concerts which, together with a picnic and a cold glass of wine, have been very well attended. Saturday saw 2,000 people at a James Loops concert on Cape Point Farm and, not to be outdone, there is Cafe Roux in the Noordhoek Village that offers live music every Sunday lunchtime. What a way to spend a Sunday.

Cafe Roux is family friendly, as well as pet friendly, and I would suggest booking. But one could also venture into Hout Bay to "The Deck" as I did last Sunday; where I listened to the band Tanglewood while enjoying a fresh piece of grilled fish and salad and a glass of cold South African white wine.

If you thought that the word band means "for the young", then let me tell you that you're mistaken. We were all there 30 to X0 year-olds tapping our feet and a lot of people - unable to resist the urge to dance - were up on the wooden deck moving to the various tunes played by Tanglewood.

So, it’s not only about wine tours and penguin colonies in Cape Town. There is a beat as well and hopefully you enjoy music enough to come and visit us and dare I say…have a dance or two.

See you soon,

Richard
