St Kitts might not be the first destination that springs to mind when you think of a luxury Caribbean getaway, but beautiful nature, stunning beaches and a variety of exciting experiences have made this one of our favourite places to escape to. A combination of superb places to stay, soft sand, plenty of sunshine and a range of activities including golf and hiking make any trip here a truly quintessential Caribbean getaway.

What’s more, the renowned Park Hyatt group recently opened a superb luxury resort on the island, marking their Caribbean debut, and British Airways offers two direct flights a week from London Gatwick (with a brief touchdown in Antigua), making it easier than ever to reach this Caribbean paradise.

Read on to learn more about the superb Park Hyatt, and discover some of our favourite ways to explore St Kitts below…

Park Hyatt St Kitts

This beautiful 126-room luxury resort is the first Park Hyatt property in the Caribbean. Each room boasts décor inspired by St Kitts, views out over the Caribbean Sea, while other luxe touches include rain showers and private terraces or balconies. For extra indulgence, our Travel Specialists recommend the Presidential Villa – a three-bedroom home away from home equipped with private infinity pool, a personal chef and butler service.

When it comes to mealtimes, choose from three excellent eateries, each offering a unique dining experience. The Stone Barn serves a sophisticated menu in an intimate adult-only setting. The Fisherman’s Village specialises in ‘ocean to table’ cuisine for lunch and dinner with mahi mahi, yellow fin tuna, king prawn and scallops just some of the tempting options. The Great House is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; fantastic features here include a herb garden, chef’s table, rum bar and a conservatory area perfect for a leisurely afternoon tea.

All your relaxation needs are well taken care of, too. The Miraval Life in Balance Spa offers a range of therapies and treatments with a focus on both the mind and body. Spread over 37,752 sq ft, features include nine treatment rooms, three couples’ rooms with private plunge pools and a 24-hour fitness centre. The focus on wellness is shown through the local produce used in treatments and the yoga and meditation sessions held at The Sugar Mill.

The resort’s Banana Bay location makes exploring St Kitts’ wider attractions easy; Robert L Bradshaw International Airport is less than half an hour away, while top sites such as Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park can be reached in 45 minutes.

St Kitts

Natural Beauty

What better way to appreciate the island’s landscapes than by getting out and about? Ask our Concierge team about booking a guided tour or nature walk through the rainforest, where you’re sure to spot incredible native flora and fauna.

History Haven

Spend a day exploring Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park; fascinating for even the most casual of history fans, the magnificent 17th century military structure is incredibly impressive, with interesting exhibits about local historic life and some fantastic spots for taking in amazing sea views.

Caribbean Cycling

The rolling hills and gentle slopes of the island are a cyclist’s dream, and a gentle ride through the tropical countryside is a fantastic way to get up close to the nature here. After all that adventure, we suggest a refreshing dip in the Caribbean Sea.

Foodie Fun

Food in St Kitts is all about local flavours – lots of fruit and vegetables, often alongside freshly-caught seafood like lobster or conch. Of course, a culinary adventure here isn’t complete without trying the national dish of salt fish and johnny cakes!

Healthy Lifestyle

As well as the odd rum punch, there are plenty of ways to enjoy healthy fare in St Kitts. We recommend a visit to Ital Creations at Fari Organic Farm, where visitors can wander amongst moringa and mango trees, sample vegan and plant-based cuisines, and take part in a yoga class led by a qualified instructor.

Local Lifestyle

One of the best ways to get to grips with the local culture of any place is to sample the cuisine, and at El Fredo’s diners can try a variety of traditional Kittitian meals all made with local ingredients. There’s no added salt or preservatives, so you’re guaranteed authentic, healthy Caribbean fare.
