When I joined Inspiring Travel Company in the summer I was slightly embarrassed to admit I had never been to the Caribbean, so at the earliest opportunity I booked a week’s holiday to our top selling island - Barbados.
I started my holiday staying at a new boutique hotel, The Lone Star Hotel & Restaurant, which is situated on Barbados’s west coast on a lovely stretch of beach. Formally a garage, this boutique hotel now has a collection of stunning rooms, suites and a 3-bedroom private villa, all with interior design that looks like its come straight out of Homes&Gardens magazine. The restaurant is well established and sometimes referred to as ‘The Ivy of the Caribbean’ and with just cause, as the food was excellent. I did, however, manage to burn off a few of those extra calories snorkelling with turtles in the lovely clear warm waters off the beach in front of the hotel.
I travelled down the west coast and had a fabulous lunch at Sandy Lane’s Clubhouse overlooking the manicured golf course, a perfect way to spend the afternoon and then took the opportunity to pop in and look around the hotel – wow! What can I say? It was just fabulous.
I finished my holiday at Coral Reef Club, a lovely traditional hotel with an old colonial feel set in stunning tropical gardens.
A week just wasn’t long enough for me to enjoy all Barbados has to offer – so I’ll just have to go back!
