September is the perfect time to take a luxury holiday.
While it may be 'back to school blues' for many teachers and students alike, others are looking to bag an early autumn break.
At the Inspiring Travel Company, we've rarely seen a better time to book short-haul travel to Europe and here's why:
- Sunshine! Even if the British summer can sometimes leave something to be desired in terms of rays, there are still many parts of Europe enjoying long days of warmth and blue skies.
- When the schools go back for September, prices drop dramatically, meaning we have some incredible savings to offer our clients.
- Avoid the crowds. Another benefit of travelling outside the school holidays is the increased availability at top hotels and less crowding in tourist destinations.
So, are you wondering where to go in Europe in September for the sun? Luckily for you, we've put together a little list of destinations that are just perfect for a last-minute luxury holiday to Europe for some September sunshine.
There are so many fabulous destinations to choose from on a luxury Greek holiday, from tiny islands with unspoilt coves to chic, cosmopolitan hubs. Athens is a great choice for a September city break; with temperatures hovering in the mid-twenties you can stroll the streets in comfort, plus it's still warm enough to sunbathe!
Of course, history buffs will be in their element in Athens, where you can explore thousands of years of history at the Parthenon or the Acropolis. There are countless ways to explore this city, which has been inhabited for over 7,000 years; we particularly recommend wandering the markets on Athinas St for a taste of real Athenian culture.
The deluxe Four Seasons Lagonissi offers the best of both sides of Athens – you’ll be within an easy distance of the city’s historic attractions like the Temple of Poseidon, plus you’ll have access to plenty of luxuries at the hotel. Spend hours soaking up the rays on one of the three private beaches, or take a lap or two in one of the outdoor pools.
For something a little different, still close to Athens, take a look at the Grand Resort Lagonissi, where every accommodation option boasts a sea view. Here there are a staggering 16 private beaches from which to worship the sun, as well as a host of other alfresco activities including tennis, golf, volleyball and even an outdoor cinema.
