I CAN’T WAIT TO RETURN TO HUVAFEN FUSHI

When I discovered the name Huvafen Fushi meant ‘dream island’ I knew it was a perfect name for this little piece of paradise, and I was lucky enough to spend two of the most amazing nights I’ve ever had here.

After a short 35 minute speedboat transfer from Malé Airport I arrived on this unique island which mixes Maldives style with hip and chic features.

I’ve never experienced so many highlights during such a short stay, some moments were truly out of this world! From a private Dhoni, sunset sailing experience to a luxurious spa treatment in the world’s first underwater spa. From snorkelling the house reef with the island’s marine biologist to feeding the stingrays and learning how much care Huvafen Fushi takes of its marine environment….everything here was just exceptional.I was greeted by an extremely friendly team and introduced to my personal butler who was very attentive; nothing was too much trouble, and was then led to my Ocean Bungalow which had a thatched roof on the outside yet a sophisticated and contemporary design on the inside. It was cool, sexy and I loved the novelty of being over water. Set on a long ovate pier off the island, the Ocean Bungalows offer maximum privacy. They have a glass floor in the living area, giving you 24-hour 'reef TV', and because you’re on the sunset side, drinks on the terrace next to your own plunge pool are a must. Plus, if you love snorkelling, you're right next to the outstanding house reef.

Also, the culinary experiences I had at Huvafen Fushi were outstanding; I ate the most amazing seafood platter at SALT whilst watching the sharks swimming by, with the highlight for me being a private dining experience with other guests in Vinum. Set 8 metres under the ocean in the middle of the island this unique cellar cave houses 6,000 wines. We dined around a large circular table and were led through an array of exquisite wines while enjoying the culinary delights presented to us by the chef. Our very own private world.

I left Huvafen Fushi with a heavy heart but I know one day I will return and I can’t wait!
