At the Inspiring Travel Company we specialise in luxury cruise holidays, with SeaDream Yacht Club a longstanding partner. Platinum Account Manager Jackie was lucky enough to enjoy the SeaDream experience for herself recently. Here’s what she had to say…

An exciting adventure awaited us as we boarded SeaDream II in Malaga with their catchline “it’s yachting, not cruising” at the forefront of our minds.

We were greeted by the crew with a glass of champagne and taken to check-in to our accommodation. The ship has just 56 staterooms and suites, with a maximum of 112 guests on board (and 95 crew); meaning it feels boutique and personalised, and there’s always a member of the crew to assist when you need anything. Our stateroom was junior-suite-style with a picture window and the first surprise was that we were presented with wonderful SeaDream pyjamas, which was a really lovely touch.

It was then time to set sail!

Our first activity on board was dinner, which on SeaDream is an event in itself, set in the elegant dining salon and with so many options to choose from; with a tempting gourmet selection as well as lighter, healthier and vegan menus. Post-dinner, several options were then available to us; a drink at the piano bar, live guitar and piano music in the lounge, or a hand of blackjack in the casino…which to choose?!

Next morning, breakfast was served in the Topside restaurant, to the backdrop of panoramic views of the coast. Puerto Banus was our first port of call and turned out to be the perfect place to amble around the designer shops and enjoy a coffee by the marina. Then it was back to SeaDream for a drink at the Top of the Yacht bar and, for those who were feeling more energetic, some watersports from the yacht’s marina platform before a quick change and dinner.

If you like a bit of pampering, then I’d recommend a treatment at the small but perfectly formed onboard spa, or perhaps starting the day with a complimentary sunrise yoga or Tai Chi session. Also wonderful for a spot of relaxation are the Balinese Dream Beds at the top of the ship, which can be transformed at night so that you can gaze at and even sleep out under the stars.

I was also surprised to discover that we sailed by night, meaning that each morning we woke up in a new and wonderful destination; Gibraltar, Cadiz, Portimao and finally Lisbon. It was so exciting to pull back the curtains each morning and survey a brand new view, and to be able to make the most of our time in each.

All in all, I loved my time aboard SeaDream with its fabulous crew and such superb attention to detail. I’m hoping to head to the Caribbean with them next time…
