Our South Africa Destination Manager Richard Nurse describes his start to the New Year in Cape Town…
Greetings to you all from a hot and sunny Cape Town!
I have recently returned from a very successful tour of Sri Lanka in the company of 34 fabulous clients. What a lovely country to visit. One I would recommend you got to but only after you’ve taken the plunge and come down to South Africa (and Cape Town in particular).
The weather has been fabulous here for the last month and Cape Town has been rammed.
Loads of visitors from abroad have been soaking up the sunshine enjoying our white sandy beaches and dining at all the various restaurants in and around the Cape such as Shimmy Beach, The Bungalow and Grand Beach Cafe on the waterfront. Along the False Bay Coast there is Harbour House and Live Bait and for the real "feet in the sand" dining experience there is the Brass Bell and Cape To Cuba. All of the above are worth a visit and each offers a different eating out experience.
Wow! And we haven't even been to the Winelands yet! Well, just so you know, there is a fabulous wine route experience right at the foot of Table Mountain in the Constantia area and one can enjoy places such as Eagles Nest, Constantia Glen, as well as Silver Mist Estate, which also accommodates the lovely La Colombe restaurant. The Steenberg Hotel and Golf course also offers fabulous dining options at their two restaurants; 1682 and Catharinas…well worth visiting.
So now that we have sampled all the various foods from the plethora of eateries on offer a bit of exercise might be the order of the day. So, why not enjoy an afternoon walking through our national botanical gardens in Kirstenbosch which also offers a "sky walk" over certain areas of the gardens? But failing that, there are also enjoyable walks on the slopes of Table Mountain in Newlands Forest that will afford one all the exercise one needs.
So sunbathing, swimming, wine tasting, eating out and shopping. All under one roof? Where can I find this place? It's Cape Town of course! Hurry on down here while we still have loads of sunshine, but if you've already made arrangements for this summer, then be bold; pick up the phone and book your place for next year.
I would love to welcome you to my beautiful country.
Until the next time,
