Walking out of the airport doors at Malé Airport and seeing One&Only Reethi Rah’s private, exclusive yacht…well, that is how you know you really are going to the best island in the Maldives! Your journey starts here…
I was very fortunate enough to visit One&Only on a work trip earlier this year and I was not disappointed!
I found it hard to imagine how amazing the property could be and how it could beat any of the other islands in the Indian Ocean. However, with 12 flawless, white sand beaches it’s easy to see why its name means ‘beautiful island’.
Myself and my colleague Marion were lucky enough to snatch the last available villa for our stay which was their Beach Villa (which was huge!), with lots of space, high ceilings and gorgeous furnishings. I loved that even though the resort was full, it felt so exclusive and the service was impeccable. With a total of 130 villas, this is tricky to accomplish, however they do it so perfectly!
The resort is excellent for guests who want to relax and take in the unsurpassed luxury or of course for adventure seekers to enjoy the seemingly endless selection of activities; including kayaking, paragliding, PADI dive centre, tennis courts, football, the first climbing wall in the Maldives and indoor golf centre.
Another great aspect was the choice of exquisite dining experiences, which can either be enjoyed in the main restaurant, the privacy of your own villa or for a truly memorable experience on a secluded sandbank. I would highly recommend a sunset cocktail around 6pm at Fandithai and then enjoy their Meze night! The location is very exotic and offers a boho-chic atmosphere and the food was really delicious.
This is the perfect island for anybody looking to be blown away by service, facilities and activities and well suited for romantic couples to families alike.
