Inspiring Travel Company Product & Marketing Manager Zoe Saunders tells all on her recent trip to the paradise island of Mauritius…
I had previously despaired at the change in British Airways flight times, so that you arrived into Mauritius early in the morning.
However being in the luxury transfer with my ITC colleagues Sarah Morgan and Lucy Briggs on route to Four Seasons while watching the sun rise was the perfect welcome to Mauritius; and meant that my first day returning to this beautiful isle was a full day to enjoy everything that the east coast has to offer.
It is widely acknowledged that the east is best to be avoided during the winter (our summer), however as we travelled there during late June I can honestly say that the sun shone, the temperature was perfectly hot without being humid thanks to a breeze, and there was no rainfall. Despite this I would recommend taking a light wrap for the evenings as the temperature does get cooler. Of course, as with our British weather, these perfect conditions cannot be guaranteed.
But what can be guaranteed is that ITC has a wide choice of resorts on the east coast of Mauritius, so here are some of the highlights of those which I visited on this trip:
The privacy, amazing service, delicious cuisine, spa sanctuary and kids’ club make for a great all-round resort. It’s also the only resort in Mauritius that you can have a boat transfer to/from the airport.
Great for families and those wanting sporting activities, Le Touessrok offers the wonderful experience of taking the shuttle boat to Ile Aux Cerfs for a casual, ‘feet in sand’ dining experience.
Be wowed by the casual, chic, all-inclusive available resort of Lux* Belle Mare where you can check out Beach Rouge at night; where a DJ plays until 11pm on the beachfront.
A great choice of restaurants and accommodation here. There’s golf too and overall this makes for a great family property. For full flexibility you can book half board, full board or add on a drinks package to prepay for a variety of drinks before you travel.
Set on an elegant, long stretch of beach you’ll be impressed by the high level of service here as well as the spa. I’d recommend taking a 10 minute trip on the glass bottom boat to the reef that surrounds Mauritius.
Boasting a quiet beach, family rooms and facilities, as well as butler service – One&Only is the only hotel on the east coat that sees the sun rise on the east and set on the west due to its position on the peninsular.
This small property offers a high level of luxury as well as a spa and unique restaurant options. Get a true sense of this paradise location by booking a suite or villa on stilts over the lagoon.
