MARCH IN MARRAKECH: THE ROYAL PALM REVIEWED

Inspiring Travel Company | 13 Mar, 2015

Business Manager Helen Mavin describes her recent trip to Morocco with the Inspiring Travel Company…

We wanted to get away for a few days at the beginning of March, somewhere warm, but which didn’t involve taking a long haul flight, and somewhere that sounded well, just a little bit adventurous!

Therefore after only a 3½ flight from Gatwick we found ourselves enjoying a very pleasant sunny 28° degrees in Marrakech. We didn’t even need to adjust our watches, as Marrakech was on the same time as the UK!

Having been advised that clearing immigration at Marrakech airport can take a little time, I opted for fast-track on arrival and we were met just after leaving the aircraft and taken to a private lounge whilst we waited for the luggage to be off loaded. We cleared immigration in seconds, received our bags and were sitting in The Royal Palm’s brand new Range Rover within 20 minutes of landing.

A further 20 minutes after that and we were driving through the gates of The Royal Palm, Beachcomber’s newest hotel which opened just last year. It really is a stunning hotel with the backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, set in fabulous landscaped gardens which have so many olive trees that the hotel now produces its own olive oil.

Walking around you soon realise that this hotel has cleverly catered for everyone.

Families have a great choice of family-friendly accommodation, including 2-bedroom suites, interconnecting suites or two-bedroom villas, each with their own pool and set in a private garden.

Children will be spoilt in the amazing Kids’ Club with learning areas, there own mini-kitchen complete with mini-chefs outfits for cookery classes, miniature sized tennis courts, a mini-football pitch and a shaded outdoor heated pool. I nearly forgot to mention - there are large woolly sheep and a camel too!

Golfers will enjoy playing the 18-hole par 72 course designed by Cabell Robinson. It suits both amateurs and professionals with water obstacles, decent fairways and wide, but not too deep, bunkers. A very impressive Club House is also taking shape and is due to open a little later this year.

Spa lovers can be pampered in the Spa by Clarins which has been designed to resemble a Moroccan Palace with its own indoor heated pool, saunas, hammams, massage suites, nail bar and more…

Foodies will really appreciate the quality of the food which has both French and Moroccan influences. A fine dining restaurant is set to open later this year.

And finally, for those of you who still like to keep up your exercise regime whilst on holiday you won’t be disappointed with the state of the art fitness centre, tennis courts and outdoor lap pool.

Working in the travel industry I’m very fortunate to visit and stay at some fabulous hotels and it takes quite a lot to impress me – but this one really did.
