We’re delighted to tell you that our good friends over at Per AQUUM have just introduced a brand new island to their paradise resort of NIYAMA in the Maldives.

The second island – Play – has 48 villas, two new restaurants and a children’s club, and is connected to the main island of Chill via a bridge.

Superbly placed next to the family-friendly accommodation on Play, the new kids’ club, Explorers, (for 12 months to 12 years) is operated by childcare professionals, with a very high ratio of staff to children. What makes this club very special indeed is that it’s the only resort in the Maldives offering a place for children under three, with specialised facilities such as a sleeping room for little ones naps.

The staff organise themed days to keep younger ones smiling (such as jungle safari!) with activities including sandcastle building. Older kids meanwhile will love the snorkelling safaris, beach cricket and football skills, as well as the Master Chef Classes. They’ll also enjoy the children’s swimming area at the huge infinity pool, and the treats at the poolside ice cream parlour, while grownups will be spoilt by the ‘Sunshine Thakuru’.

Alongside these fantastic children’s facilities, there are also two new and incredible restaurants. At BLU you’ll enjoy a relaxed, beachfront vibe ideal for families with ‘Med meets Miami’ fare. The hotly-anticipated Nest is also soon to open; set in the island’s jungle, it’s a collection of treehouses and private pods suspended six metres above the ground. The menu will be a selection of Asian favourites, such as Teppanyaki, and will include seasonal produce from the chef’s island garden.

Finally, you’ll also discover new accommodation, including the One-Bedroom Beach Pool Suites; ideal for luxury travellers wanting additional space. The Beach Pool Suites have direct beach access and total privacy, while the new Two-Bedroom Family Beach Pavilion boasts its own in-villa spa!
