Oscar-winning travel inspiration

Inspiring Travel Company | 19 Feb, 2015

The red carpet is being rolled out, the A-listers are preening and the Twittersphere is all of a jitter in anticipation for the Oscars in Los Angeles this weekend.

With some great British films and actors in the mix, it looks set to be a great night for national talent and here at the Inspiring Travel Company we’ll be on the edge of our seats waiting to hear who the final winners are.

So, to get you in the movies mood, we thought we’d look at the nominations and how the films and performers can inspire your luxury travels this year…

New York

Tipped to win big are Whiplash and Birdman – both of which were filmed in full or in part in the Big Apple. The city really is a great place to discover – even for non-city break lovers – and a wander around Central Park, heading to the top of the Empire State Building at night and enjoying the Michelin-star dining the city has to offer should all be on your hit-list while staying in the city. For luxurious accommodation, and savings, check out our offers for The St. Regis Hotel and The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel.

Reese Witherspoon is up for Best Actress for her stellar performance in Wild, but when the blonde starlet needs some downtime with her family she heads to the Bahamas. If you’re tempted by the white sands and pale blue waters of these Caribbean islands, take a look at our current offers for One&Only Ocean Club and Atlantis.

Also up for the coveted title of ‘Best Actress’ is French 39-year-old Marion Cottilard. The movie, Two Days, One Night, would see Cottilard pick up her second Oscar – her first being La Vie En Rose – should she be lucky on the night. She was born and has lived in Paris, a city made for exploring, and if you’re yet to discover the French capital yourself, we’d suggest asking your Travel Specialist about accommodation at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Le Bristol Paris or Mandarin Oriental Paris; all of which will enhance your Parisian break.

Acclaimed British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is up for Best Actor for his performance in The Imitation Game, having just arrived in LA fresh from his wedding (having forgone his honeymoon for the awards ceremony)! A few years’ back the actor wrote a fantastic review of the “intoxicating” Seychelles, and if you like the idea of staying at Bayan Tree Seychelles as he did, you can save a massive £955 per person with our current offer to the luxurious resort.
