Our Travel Specialist, Natalie Russell-Blackburn Perkins, has just returned for a trip to Barbados. Here she gives us her thoughts of one of the newest luxury resorts on this beautiful island; Port Ferdinand.
The west coast of Barbados has many strings to its bow; its platinum sands, clam waters and abundant luxury hotels make it the place to see and be seen on a Caribbean holiday. On a recent visit there, one of the hottest properties to impress me was Port Ferdinand, which brings a fresh new twist on the decadent Bajan holiday. Bringing discerning clients luxury villa living at its finest, all guests benefit of all the facilities of a hotel whilst have the space and privacy of a home from home. This property just oozes sophistication from the minute you arrive. The suites range from two to three bedrooms and some even have their own private pool. There are also stunning views to be enjoyed out over the marina. With only super yachts and exquisite catamarans to impede your view of the Carribean Sea, what's not to love? The décor of the suites is impeccable; you really feel like you have just stepped into a copy of Condé Nast Living, without being fussy or too much. I felt right at home immediately!
With such beautiful rooms, the experienced traveller in me was eager to find out what other delights were in store, and the resort did not disappoint. There's a state-of-the-art fully equipped gym, two excellent restaurants, an amazing kids club and indulgent jungle spa. Another unusual feature is an indoor golf simulator, very high-tech and enjoyable to use. So there really is something for everyone! Although not a beachfront property as such, you're only a 5-minute complimentary water taxi away from sister property St Peters Bay where there's plenty of golden sand and clear, blue water tantalize you!
Having visited Port Ferdinand I am in no doubt that it will be the place to be seen in Barbados and is certainly one to watch in the upcoming months. So, if this luxury resort sounds like your thing I would get booked in while you still can!;
