Travel Specialist, Kelsey Frogget, recently visited Puente Romano, a stunning resort on the Costa del Sol, here's her insider insight on a luxury holiday here...

After just a three hour flight from Manchester, I arrived into Malaga Airport, where I was met by my driver and transferred to Marbella. It was a scenic 50 minute drive and arriving at Puente Romano I felt like I was entering a traditional Andalusian village rather than luxury hotel. The whitewashed buildings surrounded by lush greenery were just beautiful and gave me a real sense of place. I could feel myself relaxing already!

I was greeted by friendly staff and shown to my room. The resort cascades beautifully down to the seafront, and due to the location of my room I was able to get a good look around the grounds. Every room has a parking space which is great for those who wish to hire a car and do some exploring along the Costa del Sol. I stayed in a Deluxe Garden Suite and loved how spacious the rooms were, plus having just undergone a refurbishment the decor was so bright and fresh.

For lunch I ate at the Sea Grill, which is situated next to the beach giving you amazing sea views. You can help yourself to the many flavours and traditional dishes at the salad bar and follow that up with one or two of the fresh fish or meat dishes, which are grilled to perfection. There's a great choice of restaurants throughout the resort, including Japanese, Italian and Tapas. For a fine dining experience head to Dani Garcia, which is a two Michelin star restaurant with live cooking stations.

When the sun sets the atmosphere really does come alive at the resort. I made my way to the piazza which has an array of dining options, as well as an open air theatre where you can have a pre-dinner cocktail, enjoy the music or try a shisha pipe. If you want to continue your night into the early hours, the resort has its own chic nightclub. All tables are hosted and a smart dress code is required.

At the resort also I was lucky enough to try out the recently opened Six Senses Spa, which was just heaven. I would definitely recommend to treat yourself to a treatment during your luxury stay, and take advantage of the trademark Six Senses spa pool, sauna and steam facilities.

Marbella has so much to offer, golf courses are only 15 minutes from the resort, Puerto Banus can be reached by a 30 minute walk down the promenade for its spectacular nightlife or a spot of shopping. Alternatively, why not visit old town Marbella, for its beautiful architecture, traditional shopping, or try a spot of tapas down the side streets?
