To ensure we’re offering our clients only first-hand, honest insight, we recently sent a group of Travel Specialists to see the iconic hotel for themselves, and quizzed one, Kelsey Froggett, on what makes this resort so very special…
What were your first impressions?
In all honesty they were ‘wow’! The entrance through large wooden doors is seriously impressive and frames your first glimpse at the stunning Indian Ocean view in front of you. You’re met with a cool towel and refreshing drink, which is just what you need after the long flight and sets the benchmark for the high level One&Only service. In fact, the service was a highlight of my stay, and no less than I would expect from a hotel group renowned for its personalised attention to detail.
And what does the resort look like?
There are two experiences here really; on one side you have the lagoon where there are numerous watersports to choose from, and to the other side is the beach, where you can spend your day relaxing with a good book, or building sandcastles! Amid the accommodation and facilities the resort boasts beautifully manicured, tropical gardens.
Would you recommend your accommodation?
I stayed in a Lagoon Room, which for a ‘lead-in’ category was incredibly spacious and light, with a huge walk-in wardrobe and large separate bath and shower in the bathroom. These are perfect for couples, but if you’re travelling with the kids then the collection of Family Suites are perfect… or for the ultimate space and indulgence there’s Villa One.
What were your dining highlights?
La Terrasse is the largest restaurant at the resort and offers an exceptional variety of food, with live cooking stations and buffet-style dining. I really couldn’t believe the choice on offer, all of which was outstandingly well presented, with everything from fresh cuts of meat cooked to your liking to Italian pizzas, Chinese dishes and a sweet parlour.
Did you experience any of the sports facilities?
I had a great session in the gym which had all the very latest high-tech equipment; perfect for making my run more enjoyable whilst I enjoyed watching the Disney Channel (yes…I’m a big kid!)! The gym itself is light and airy and there’s a trainer on hand for assistance which is great to improve your technique.
Any little details that made your stay memorable?
For me the live entertainment in the evening was brilliant, where a local group sung a variety of well-known tracks to keep your feet tapping well into the night. It really added to the atmosphere and local authenticity of One&Only Le Saint Géran.
Who would you recommend One&Only Le Saint Géran for?
The resort has a little bit of something for everybody; with its top-end kids’ and teens clubs, beautiful spa area, exceptional dining and of course the variety of accommodation options.
Would you go back?
I had an amazing stay at One&Only Le Saint Géran and would definitely return for a luxurious break away. You can certainly see why guests return year after year.
