Last month, I was lucky enough to enjoy a blissful honeymoon in the Caribbean. Much of our time was spent on Barbados, as my husband and I think it's pretty much the best place on earth! Though we had visited a couple of times before, we had never taken the opportunity to sample the island's most renowned dining experience; dinner at The Cliff restaurant. So, when I was planning our honeymoon and I wanted a grand finale that would top it all for our last night I knew it had to be The Cliff!
I am not sure any words can do The Cliff the justice it requires and deserves without actually experiencing it yourself. However, I will try my best and if I make you a jealous along the way I do apologise, but I am still riding the waves of my Barbados honeymoon high and don't want to come down just yet
Firstly, it’s all about location, location, location with this restaurant! Aptly named The Cliff due to sitting on the edge of a small cliff in the west coast of Barbados, the whole place is set up spectacularly like to a medieval fortress. The amazing ambience is complimented by the turquoise Caribbean Sea lapping at the shore and underwater lighting showcasing the big rays and barracuda’s (that look like baby sharks by the way!). Topping it all off are fire torches that stretch out over the sea give the romantic atmosphere we were searching for on our last honeymoon night before coming back to down to earth!
Then there's the food, which was simply delicious. We had already dined like king and queen on our honeymoon and we thought we couldn’t experience anymore culinary delights but our dishes were heavenly and all washed down with a chilled glass of Champagne. The staff were so attentive that we never found ourselves waiting for service and our waterfront table was the perfect setting to experience a little alone time under the stars.
The thoughtful staff had also suggested we come an hour before dining to sit in the open-air lounge on the top floor, relax and take in the views with some signature cocktails, so we did! The Cliff want you to have an entire evening experience that starts before you dine and carries on after you have finished the superb food, so afterwards we went back up to the open-air lounge to enjoy some after-dinner drinks whilst the resident DJ playing chilled music until late in the evening.
I would highly recommend The Cliff for a fine dining experience the next time you visit Barbados. For us, it was a wonderfully romantic occasion, but it would be fabulous for groups too. Inspiring Travel Company can make your dinner reservations when you book your holiday, which we would always advise doing as The Cliff is one of the Caribbean's most renowned restaurants.
To tempt you even further, we are working alongside The Cliff to offer a free bottle of wine with every dinner reservation you make through ITC from now until 31 December 2016!
