The Pink Sands Club is an ultra-luxury resort on the island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Some of our team have recently had the luxury of experiencing the resort first hand, and as a result we’ve been able to put together this ‘ultimate guide’ detailing everything the resort has to offer.
The Pink Sands Club was re-launched in October 2016 after undertaking a complete renovation; it was previously known as Raffles. The resort now hosts 26 suites and 6 Lagoon Villas, alongside four restaurants, a luxury spa, a superb kids club and an 18-hole championship golf course.
The hotel is a grand building, built symmetrically with the suites located left and right of the main building, all of which is linked together. The centre of the hotel compromises of the two main restaurants, Romeo and Juliet, with the reception on the top floor.
The hotel’s luxury suites reside to the left and right of this central area. The closest suites to the hotel’s centre are the two Penthouse suites, with the one and two bedroom suites being positioned along each side of the building. Tucked away on resort’s right-hand side, you’ll find the swimming pool and hot tub, accompanied by the poolside bar and restaurant. And to left hand-side, you’ll find the luxurious Spa.
The entry-level suite type is the one-bedroom suite. This comes with a huge array of luxury features. All of the electric items in the room can be controlled through any of the three iPads found in every suite, from the air conditioning temperature, level of lighting through to the sound system and even the curtains and drapes – meaning that you can reveal the beautiful sea view from the comfort of your bed with just a few taps of the iPad.
In terms of rooms, the suites are broken down into an entrance hallway, your own walk in closet, a large bathroom, a living area, a terrace and of course the bedroom. Upon arrival at Pink Sands, it is not uncommon for you to be greeted with a range of snacks and even champagne as our team was on their adventure.
All suites also boast a huge central mirror that sits directly in front of the bed, and cleverly houses a Smart TV behind it. The entire mirror also works as a door, and is controllable from any of the iPads and is again very important to reveal that beautiful sea view that comes with each and every suite.
In each suite you’ll find a complimentary mini bar full of soft and alcoholic drinks, a tray full of local snacks and chocolate, a coffee machine with four different blends alongside a large assortment of teas.
The two bedroom suites share many similarities with the one-bedroom suites in terms of look and feel, but have a larger living area and grander entrance hall. The Penthouse suites are one bedroom suites, but offering much more room, an even more luxurious bathroom and prime sea views in the most central position.
The Pink Sands Club is also home to 6 Lagoon Villas. All of the Villas sit in an elevated position on the hillside, just behind the central hotel building. All of the Villas are identical in build and layout and only vary in terms of their positioning.
Each Lagoon Villa come with its own infinity pool, outside terrace area and balconies; offering some of the finest views in the entire resort. They also boast their own kitchen and utility rooms for in-house dining and benefit from many of the fantastic technological features also found in the suites, such as the iPads and wall controls, but also including high quality projector screens.
The beach at the Pink Sands Club is immaculate where you’ll find beautiful white sand and a clear blue sea. The traditional Pink Sands sun loungers, which are extra wide and extremely comfortable, line the beach. Attentive staff are on hand at the beachside to bring you anything you’d like, from a cold beer to some tasty beach snacks.
A short golf buggy ride from the main hotel complex resides the championship 18-hole golf course. Alongside being pristinely maintained, the golf course is a challenging and exciting play. The front 9 are the original holes of the golf course, with the course beginning its life as a 9-hole course. The back 9 holes were added later down the line and offer breath-taking use of elevation and a much less forgiving, meaning a really challenging style of play is required. The high number of tee options mean that you can make the golf course as hard or easy as you like and you can have a practice on the driving range or even book in for a lesson with the resident golf professional, Kevin, during your stay.
The Spa is located on the beach front, with treatment rooms extending both into the ocean and up the Cliffside. There are even two spa rooms built right into the ocean itself! Choose from a huge range of spa treatments, all of which can be booked swiftly with a visit or call to reception. Inspiring Travel Company’s Concierge team can also pre-book any treatments before your arrival.
You can choose to have your treatment either on the hillside with superb ocean views or you can opt for the ocean-based treatment rooms, where you can observe the range of sea life beneath you through the glass floor while you have your treatment.
There are a total of four restaurants in the complex, each specialising in a different type of cuisine. The Lagoon Café is a popular breakfast destination and sits on the ground floor near the beachside. Here you can enjoy a range of meals, from a full English or Eggs Benedict at breakfast to a range of salad and grilled fish choices at lunch time.
Then there is the Romeo restaurant, offering a fusion of Indian and Thai cuisine. The restaurant features an open kitchen so you can see the talented chefs preparing your delicious meals.
The Juliet restaurant, which is located directly above the Romeo restaurant, specialises in beautifully grilled meats and fish with an iconic central circular bar where you can indulge in all kinds of fine drinks and cocktails.
The Poolside bar and restaurant is located directly by the swimming pool, located outside although offering shelter with superb sea views. The Poolside bar is primarily a lunch time option, although will serve evening meals too.
In addition to offering truly excellent facilities for adults, the Pink Sands Club is also home to an excellent kids’ club, open to all children aged 3 years plus (younger than 3 would need be accompanied by a nanny or adult). Inside the kids’ club, you’ll find a huge array of board games, films, televisions and computers for them to play with, as well table tennis and a pool table.
Outside, you’ll find two kids’ swimming pools with fountains and slides as well as an outdoor play area that includes swings and climbing frames. The Kids’ Club at Pink Sands ensures that your children are kept happy while you enjoy some well-earned relaxation time on the island.
