ITC’s South African Destination Manager, Richard Nurse, offers a few of the best activities to experience in his home nation in his Cape Town weekly blog…
Well folks we are still here and the weather has been fabulous. The water temperature in False Bay (the best bathing beaches here are Fish Hoek and Muizenberg) has been a lovely 20°C and driving to Muizenberg to walk my dogs at 6:00 am yesterday it was crazy to see 100 - 200 people already in the water at surfer’s corner; all trying out their various skills at kite surfing, paddle skiing, stand-up paddle surfing, surfing and just plain swimming.
It’s a lovely beach Muizenberg and if swimming is not your bag then a walk along the beach (one can walk for 5 miles if one chooses) early in the morning is just the ticket.
We have also been spoilt with some exciting cricket here over the last few weeks. The West Indian team have been here entertaining us and the England A-side has just arrived. So the sports enthusiasts have been spoilt rotten.
We in South Africa cannot wait for the arrival of the England cricket team in December as the last time they toured SA was as far back as 2009. Back then the Rand was 11 Rand to 1 Pound Sterling, and now it's 17.5 Rand to 1 Pound Sterling; so don't waste time debating whether or not to visit us at the end of the year. Call our sports team in Chester and reserve your spot. ITC Sports Travel will be offering a wide range of attractive packages for the tour and will include something for everyone to enjoy if cricket isn’t your thing.
There will be visits to a game reserve, The Battlefields, trips up Table Mountain and to Robben Island, as well as wine tasting and a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula which will include a visit to an inland penguin colony. All of this on top of the cricket.
Oh, and the best part is that ITC Sports Travel will also be offering an alternative programme on three mornings of the 5-day Test Match in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Ideal if your partner doesn’t want to spend all 5 days watching a Test Match.
So, as I said earlier, call us and register your interest. You won't be disappointed. But more importantly, I am looking forward to welcoming you to my lovely country.
See you soon,
