If you’ve booked a holiday to Greece this summer, or are thinking about jetting off on a last minute escape to the country, then you may be feeling concerned about the financial crisis and how it will impact you.
While the world is still waiting to hear how the country will be affected long-term, we want to reassure our the Inspiring Travel Company bookers that if a decision is made that Greece will leave the Euro, the process for the country afterward will be a long one, and will not affect currency use for your holiday this summer.
Rest assured that we have contacted all of our hotel and resort partners in Greece, and the Greek islands, who have told us that it is very much ‘business as usual’, with the normally high levels of service, produce for all menu items and credit and debit cards accepted.
They have also universally informed us that if you are going outside of the resort you can still use ATMs with the 60 Euro limit (which has been in the media). We would therefore recommend to our clients that they take enough Euros in cash for anything you may wish to buy off-site (such as souvenirs, shopping and dining out); as there could be large queues at banks and ATMs and, particularly in more rural areas, bank closures.
Of course inside your chosen hotel any purchases can be charged back to your room and paid for at the end of your stay by credit or debit card.
By booking with the Inspiring Travel Company you’re also in very safe hands, as we are an ATOL affiliated tour operator; meaning your payment is fully protected should anything change. We also boast a 24-hour emergency team should something not go to plan once you’re in resort.
So if you’re tempted to head to Greece for a last minute deal, then here are a couple of our suggestions…
These two superb properties in Halkidiki offer a luxurious level of all-inclusive; meaning you won’t need to put your hand in your pocket the whole time you’re away. As they are also US-owned, we’re assured that they aren’t being affected by the financial crisis.
A great way to see the stunning islands of Greece is via a small ship luxury cruise – most of which, again, are all-inclusive, so you won’t have to worry about paying for any food and drink while you’re on board. Silversea has a selection of superb itineraries which stop in stunning ports of call including Mykonos, Santorini and Rhodes.
