Day 1  6 Aug - Porto, Portugal

Vibrant Porto sits atop the hills that line the Douro and on a walking tour of the city you will discover labyrinthine streets, medieval alleys, Baroque churches, flowing fountains, and chiming bell towers.
Day 2  7 Aug - Porto & The Douro Valley, Portugal

As you leave Porto behind and wend your way along the river you will find rugged mountains and hills that are divided by concentric vineyard terraces that tell the tale of a thousand year old winemaking tradition.
Day 3  8 Aug - Peso da Régua & Pinhão, Portugal

Today you will find yourself in the historic town of Peso da Régua - once a busy sailing hub and now home to the Museo do Douro, which delves into the region’s history. Then arrive at Pinhão, a tranquil village that is steeped in tradition.
Day 4  9 Aug - Along the Douro to Vega de Terron, Portugal & Spain
Spend a full day travelling along the beautiful river Douro and arrive at the small Spanish port town of Vega de Terron, where the river forms the border between Spain and Portugal.
Day 5  10 Aug - Castle ruins & Paleolithic art, Portugal

Docking in the town of Pacinho gives you a choice of visiting the Museu do Côa in the Vale do Côa Archaelogical Park to see rock art from the valley's Paleolithic era, or travel to Castelo Rodrigo, a medieval hilltop village with a war-torn history.
Day 6  11 Aug - Mateus Palace or Vinho Verde & Amarante, Portugal

Enjoy a walking tour of Pinhão and its beautiful early 20th century train station, hike up to the hilltop vineyards and marvel at the incredible views, or make your way to Vila Real for a visit to 18th-century Mateus Palace.
Day 7  12 Aug - Guimarães to Gaia, Portugal

Known as “Cradle City” and renowned for being the birthplace of Portugal, Guimarães has a UNESCO World Heritage city centre waiting to be explored. Then sail to Vila Nova de Gaia and begin your journey back to Porto.
Day 8  13 Aug - Disembark Porto, Portugal
Porto, Portugal
Arrive back in Porto, disembark from the MS Andorinha and end your Douro River journey. Here you can toast your venture with some of the finest wines in the world or perhaps even a glass of port.
