Park Hyatt Siem Reap is well-known and well-loved for its unmistakeable Khmer-inspired contemporary interior design, a stunning outdoor swimming pool that interconnects the hotel’s tropical gardens and a gourmet restaurant, The Dining Room, that is among the best places to eat in Siem Reap.
As polished as they come, this particular Park Hyatt hotel straddles the fine line between out-and-out modern-day luxury and embracing a real sense of place, thanks to their carefully considered décor scheme. So while guestrooms and suites are straight from the 21st century with their huge marble and glass-clad bathrooms, walk-in rain showers, elevated king-size beds and clever mod-cons, they are also at home with traditional ornaments, artworks, and dark wood floors – all typical of the region.
The gardens and grounds follow suit, as temple-like stone pillars and statuettes line curated shrubs, palms and decorative pools, themselves centred around a meandering swimming pool and occasional sun patios. The same can then be said of the fine dining cuisine served onsite, where all-Cambodian ingredients, techniques and presentation styles are whipped up into showstopping dishes that are as modern and refined as they come; just delightful. It’s worth noting that The Dining Room is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Siem Reap.
Foodies will indeed love their stay at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap, as the hotel puts on tasting menus, hosted gastronomic experiences and even afternoons spent with the head chef at a local produce market. Though elsewhere there’s a spa, gym, lounge bar and deli, babysitting if you need it and luxe outdoor daybeds to lounge on if you don’t, with the craft markets, temples and highlights of Siem Reap all around you; substance and style go hand-in-hand at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap hotel.
104 guestrooms and 13 suites make up the accommodation options at Park Hyatt Siem Reap, all of which feel thoroughly modern thanks to their minimalist interior design, and spacious too for such a central hotel. Mod-cons come aplenty in these chic abodes, so expect an integrated entertainment system, Wi-Fi, an espresso machine, air-conditioning, iPod dock and more besides. Bathrooms are also large and just as stylish with their marble walls and walk-in rain showers, and if opting for a suite you’ll also be treated to a private garden, plunge pool, or both. All room categories can accommodate a king or twin bed setup, though families will find much more space in the suites.
A daring fusion of French haute cuisine and Cambodian flavours can be found at the marvellous Dining Room Restaurant, and they certainly make it work! This is true fine dining done the Cambodian way with big flavours, spice, seafood, delicate dishes and everything in-between, though with one or two reliable favourites such as prime grilled steak and handmade spring rolls there for the less adventurous palate.
A hip lobby lounge complete with pink armchairs, glass book cabinets and a long cocktail list. The Living Room is a good place to spend a casual morning planning your day over coffee, or spending an evening when the lights go down; this is a lively and stylish lounge bar to be sure.
As vibrant as any café or deli in Siem Reap, the onsite Glasshouse Patisserie is light and airy thanks to wall-length windows and some outdoor seating. Under the counter meanwhile there lies a tempting row of freshly made pastries, cakes and sandwiches; perfect if on the move or needing something light.
Activities and Entertainment
Park Hyatt Siem Reap lives and breathes fine gastronomy. So, between indulging yourself at The Dining Room Restaurant, you could head to a local food market with one of the chefs, savour a tasting dinner experience (including a whole menu of honey-infused dishes) or perhaps a cultural show and meal combined. Then, to work it all off, the temples and tours of Angkor Archaeological Park are just a few miles away, while a clutch of craft markets, boutiques and galleries are also on your doorstep. Hot air balloon and helicopter rides can also be arranged from the Park Hyatt Siem Reap.
Onsite facilities at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap include a spacious spa, well-equipped gym, and two swimming pools: one for children and one beautiful pool that weaves its way between the hotel’s gardens, terraces and giant potted plants on mini ‘floating’ platforms.
