The practice of fixing coffins to teetering cliff edges – which predates Spanish colonialism in the Philippines – remains in practice to this day, although much less frequently. The coffins are a unique sight, but there’s much more to be marvelled at in Sagada.
Here you’ll find sparkling waterfalls, epic limestone cliffs, scenic hiking trails and fascinating caves. Go caving in Sumaguing, or take a dip in the waters of Bomod-ok Waterfall. An unmissable view can be found at Kiltepan Viewpoint, where the sun rises over the Cordillera mountain range.
