Among the oldest towns in the Philippines, Vigan is bursting with history and fascinating architecture.
The mestizo district is one of the key attractions here, where Spanish colonial buildings still line the streets; wander down Calle Crisologo for beautifully maintained historical buildings and gilded facades. You’ll also be able to browse for local crafts while here – including traditional basi wine, jewellery, hand-woven fabrics and lots of antiques.
Bantay Belfry and Watchtower sits atop a hill and commands excellent views over the town. Baluarte Vigan (the Fortress of Vigan) is home to Baluarte Zoo, and the butterfly garden here shouldn’t be missed.
