Among Hôtel des Arts’ many attributes is its superb rooftop swimming pool and bar, the Social Club, where some of the best Ho Chi Minh City views can be enjoyed to the sound of live music, either while lounging on a sunbed or revelling in the lively evening atmosphere often found here.
Yet, as upbeat and hip as the Social Club Rooftop Bar is, the rest of Hôtel des Arts Saigon is notably sophisticated.
This is a place of countless works of art lining the walls – the owner’s own private collection, in fact – fine dining cuisine found in each of two tantalising restaurants, an award-winning spa and gracefully adorned guestrooms to retire to, all just steps from Notre Dame Cathedral.
Style and substance work in tandem at Hôtel des Arts Saigon. The interior design, for example, is a heady fusion of styles where marble meets polished wood, and contemporary furnishings sit beside antique ornaments and one-off artworks, with clear flurries of Vietnamese cultural influences also peppered throughout. Overall, no expense has been spared on the look of this luxury Ho Chi Minh hotel, attention to detail that transcends through to the standard of service and onsite facilities too.
Both of the main restaurants at Hôtel des Arts are a joy, not least thanks to their aerial views of the city but also the range of cuisine on offer and décor scheme of each; one laid out like a high-end food market, the other a classic fine dining restaurant. There's a well-equipped gym, relaxed reading lounge and a small but pretty garden to sit in too.
Meanwhile, guestrooms and suites are full of light (and city views) thanks to their floor-to-ceiling windows, and generally feel refined with white walls, dark marble bathrooms and quality soft furnishings completing the picture.
All guestrooms and suites at Hôtel des Arts Saigon are bright spaces with their white walls and linen, polished wooden floors and cream drapes. Each comes with a combination of artworks and handmade furniture commissioned only for the hotel, as well as either king-size or twin beds, Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and luxe marble bathrooms – many with a deep-soak, standalone tub. Most rooms look out across Ho Chi Minh City itself, though the exact angle changes slightly depending on your position in the building, while higher category rooms come with Executive Floor benefits including complimentary food, drinks and lounge access.
A fantastic and fun dining hall laid out like a lively (though high-end) food market, the Saigon Kitchen Restaurant offers something refreshingly original for a hotel eatery. The range of cuisine types, nibbles, salads, seafood, local treats, cheeses and cured meats on offer is irresistible, with the fish buffet every Friday being a particular highlight.
The Social Club Restaurant at Hôtel des Arts Saigon is a classy fine dining establishment, where both inspiration and ingredients have been taken everywhere from New Zealand to France, Tasmania to Italy, cooked with a distinctly Asian twist. There are Japanese specialities and sushi, Wagyu steaks, fresh seafood and Italian classics among a truly cosmopolitan menu, where every dish is prepared and presented to perfection.
The dining room is then as elegant as the cuisine served within it: picture plush sofas for your aperitifs and a bar top hewn out of 100-year-old wood imported from England. By day, this restaurant emulates a street food market buffet, while the evening brings pure refinement thanks to the a la carte menu service. And, being situated on the 23rd floor – just one below the hotel’s rooftop bar – the views are not bad from here either!
Live DJ music, sunset cocktails and views over the city, the Social Club Rooftop Bar at Hôtel des Arts Saigon is one of the finest in the city. By day, this is a relaxed spot to catch some rays, lounge on an armchair and take a dip in the pool, away from the bustle of central Ho Chi Minh City, while at night, the space is transformed. Upbeat DJ sets accompanied by live instruments, a long cocktail list and all-round atmosphere of revelry that attracts hotel guests and locals alike, always accompanied by magical cityscape views.
More refined lounge than coffee house, Café des Beaux Arts is another sophisticated space of artworks, plush antique-style sofas, live piano playing and fine pastries – great for either high tea or a glass of champagne before an evening exploring Ho Chi Minh City.
Activities and Entertainment
Being a central Ho Chi Minh hotel, you will be within easy reach of the city’s main attractions while staying at Hôtel des Arts Saigon, including the War and City Museums, Union Square, Opera House, Tao Dan Park plus the buzzing street food markets, restaurants and bars too. At the hotel itself, there’s often a DJ playing sets in the rooftop bar, which adds a little extra atmosphere to what is already one of the best bars in Ho Chi Minh City, for those cityscape views alone.
Hôtel des Arts Saigon is certainly a well-equipped city centre property, with its main highlight being the rooftop infinity pool, sun terrace and bar. Their award-winning Le Spa des Artistes is also a mini-haven of traditional treatments, ambient music and aromatherapy oils filling the air. Elsewhere there’s a library of artworks to explore, fantastic concierge services on-hand and a nice modern gym, in addition to those superb onsite bars and restaurants.
