Mantra on the Esplanade
Mantra on the Esplanade is superbly located on Darwin’s Esplanade in proximity to the waterfront, Darwin’s outdoor shopping mall and Mitchell Street – where you will find most of Darwin’s restaurants and a vibrant nightlife scene.
The design and décor of the 204 accommodations have been taken from Darwin’s tropical north location, with modern amenities and bright splashes of colour in the soft furnishings. The rooms come in a variety of layouts including standard hotel rooms and one, two and three-bedroom self-contained apartments overlooking the city or the Arafura Sea.
With daytime temperatures rarely dropping below 25°C, the outdoor pool is always a popular spot for a refreshing afternoon dip. The hotel’s restaurant, Telegraph Eating House and Bar, serves a menu of tropical and Asian influences, while a five-minute ride away there is a variety of cuisines available at Cullen Bay, where you can enjoy waterside dining on Darwin’s Harbour.
Darwin is one of Australia’s most isolated cities – closer to Bali than Bondi Beach – yet it has a vast range of natural attractions within easy reach. Less than an hour away is Berry Springs, where you can spend a chilled afternoon lounging by the natural springs and swimming holes. A little further afield is Litchfield National Park’s majestic waterfalls and abundance of native flora and fauna. If you are in search of crocodiles, alligators and aboriginal rock art, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park can be visited in a day or on various overnight tours from Darwin.
