True North Cruise

If you’re someone who craves authentic travel experiences, loves getting under the skin of lesser-known locations and also happens to like the finer things in life; then look no further than the luxurious True North Cruise in Western Australia.

This sleek, intimate vessel has great credentials – 164ft, 18 cabins, a crew of 22 and cruising speed of 14 knots – with her best asset being the ability to edge her way into those hard-to-reach corners inland. This means that guests are privy to seriously jaw-dropping scenes that few people get to lay their eyes on, and activities are just as thrilling: think far-flung picnics, helicopter flights, exploring Aboriginal rock art, fishing, hiking, snorkelling, diving – the list goes on. Whether sailing for 7, 10, or 13 days, you’ll be blessed with some of Australia’s most naturally enchanting settings throughout your itinerary.

Then there are the onboard delights too, from taking it easy on the outdoor deck to sipping Australian wine at the bar; enjoying the comforts of your cabin or savouring delicious cuisine in the restaurant. You might be tucking into just-caught shellfish, shoulder of lamb, or a white chocolate dessert with sweet nectarine and raspberry coulis, rarely seen standards for any cruise. You can even devour fresh oysters straight from the rocks with a glass of champagne should you wish – it’s all possible with the True North Cruise and their delightful, happy-go-lucky staff.

Accommodation Options

There’s a choice of three cabin categories onboard the True North Cruise, making 18 guestrooms in total, all of which have capacity for a maximum of two adults. They are split over the lower, middle and upper decks, becoming more luxurious the higher you go.

River Class Double

With a floorplan of around 18sq m, these rooms are a step up compared to the previous room category and come with a choice of king-size or twin beds. Windows are larger too, and there’s also an en suite bathroom, TV and satellite phone.
Explorer Class Stateroom

These 18sq m cabins are found on the upper deck and are equipped with king-size or twin beds, wide windows framing the scenery outside, a mini-fridge, flat-screen TV and satellite phone. The Explorer Class Stateroom looks and feels more luxurious than other categories, with lots of natural light and, in the en suite bathroom, dual vanities.

Dining Onboard

Chefs of the True North Cruise artfully prepare lip-smacking dishes to total perfection, fusing modern and traditional recipes for some seriously irresistible fare onboard. A rather special highlight to the culinary experience is that you can hunt or forage for produce yourself on one of the excursions; perhaps catching a mud crab or barramundi, then watch the chef as they showcase their skill in the kitchen, for you to naturally devour at lunch or dinner – divine. More tantalising creations come in the form of appetisers, cocktails, and desserts, plus of course only the best Western Australian wine to harmoniously complement your meal.

Activities and Entertainment

The Kimberley is a vast, startling land characterised by coruscating rivers, 1.8 billion-year-old rock formations, immense gorges and waterfalls, and getting up close to all its wonders is made possible thanks to the True North Cruise. Small enough to navigate the narrow channels that seep inland, this vessel seeks out The Kimberley’s best spots and captivating sights, going on to offer exhilarating excursions too. Whether a helicopter flight, fishing, diving, snorkelling, photography safaris, cultural tours, hiking or scenic picnics, there’s something for everyone here. Plus, certified guides are always on-hand for insightful presentations on the incredible wildlife, geology and environment that you encounter along the way.

Facilities

Onboard the True North Cruise is a range of communal spaces to hang out in, meet fellow guests or relax with your favourite tipple. Unwind on the sundeck, look out for wildlife from the observation lounge, listen to naturalists share interesting information in the ship lounge, connect with family back home in the internet café, and order drinks from the outdoor bar; easy.
