Cape Kidnappers, Hawkes Bay

Sister property to Kauri Cliffs, this lodge which opened in November 2007, is a spectacular retreat.

Cape Kidnappers, Hawkes Bay

Located in one of New Zealand’s most important wine districts, Cape Kidnappers has a rich history, having been discovered by Captain James Cook in 1769. The lodge itself is set on a 6,000-acre sheep and cattle farm, reminiscent of Montana, but the land plunges dramatically 800 feet into the sea.

Suites feature all the latest mod cons from wireless internet access to flatscreen LCD TVs, along with 180 degree panoramic views of the farm, golf course and the Pacific Ocean from each suite’s private balcony. A la carte dining is available in a choice of two restaurants or you can enjoy less formal cuisine, al fresco, in The Farm’s covered loggia.

Other facilities include the Tom Doak designed 18 hole ocean side golf course, an outdoor heated pool with pool cabana, a spa, wine cellar and tasting room, library and a fitness centre. You can also enjoy the surrounding area with highlights such as visiting the Hawke’s Bay wineries, golden sandy beaches, hot air ballooning and even swimming with dolphins.
