Jumby Bay Island is a fabulous all-inclusive luxury retreat, set on its own enchanting 300-acre private island, two miles off the coast of Antigua.
When it was a privately owned estate, elegant partygoers famously waded into the surf at night carrying lanterns, laughing and chasing lobsters in what is still some of the clearest water in the Caribbean. Happily, there is something special about this island that means that this spirit has remained. It's a truly unique and wonderful place where couples can find privacy, as well as being fantastic for families as children can safely roam free and enjoy the outstanding Jumby Explorers kids' club.
A $28 million redevelopment saw the redesign of rooms, new suites, luxury villas and fully staffed private Estate Homes. From honeymooners to large groups; there's somewhere perfect for all to stay on a luxury Antigua holiday here.
Seclusion and elegance can be enjoyed across the variety of luxury accommodation. The traditional Rondavel Cottages boast a range of exclusive features, such as a rain shower, hammock and a private garden. Beachside Suites enjoy a gorgeous beach location, magnificent vaulted ceilings and an outdoor shower and soaking tub set in a calming private courtyard. Or opt for the Pool Suite, an elegant one-bedroom suite with an antique privacy gate, spacious terraces overlooking the sea and a private pool.
Dining options include the Verandah Restaurant and The Pool Grille, overlooking a fabulous oceanfront infinity pool, which seamlessly draws your eyes towards panoramic views of the sea. The most recent addition is the Beach Shack, situated on the pristine white sands of Jumby Bay Beach, serving breakfast and smoothies in the morning and delicious local “street food” for a grab-and-go lunch.
In 2016 Jumby Bay Island transformed its 1830 plantation house – The Estate House – to include a new restaurant and bar, a wine room and three private dining rooms, each with its own menu. The $6m restoration has created a centrepiece to the island resort which is truly spectacular, with the Sunday Rum Brunch a ‘must’ during your stay.
Then of course there’s the world-class Spa with its five treatment suites surrounding a dramatic sculpture garden, each suite having a private terrace overlooking the sea. Bliss!
Whether you've come to chase the lobsters, indulge in the spa or read a good book, make sure you spend at least one day in indolent relaxation, toes in the sand, cares carried out to sea on Antigua's warm trade winds…and let this island work its magic on you.
