The Cypriot village of Polis or Polis Chrysochous overlooks Chrysochou Bay and a natural landscape scattered with citrus groves, it's an area that is well known due to its mythological history, including the site of the Baths of Aphrodite the birthplace of the goddess of love and who could fail to fall in love with such a beautiful location.
It's also the perfect base to explore the largely unspoiled western region of Cyprus. You will find a diverse landscape offering verdant meadows, dense forest, rocky outcrops and secluded beaches. Of particular interest IS the Akamas Peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty, which is home to 530 plant species - 126 of which are endemic to Cyprus - and numerous hiking trails. If this seems like too much hard work, the nearby coastal and hillside villages will offer a genuine Greek Cypriot welcome along with plenty of native culture and cuisine.
Polis is a place of unspoilt beauty; its water holds some of the best snorkelling opportunities in the whole of Cyprus. The friendliness of locals will captivate you, with their daily markets being held in the central plaza, with local produce you won't be able to refuse.
