A truly unique place to stay set within the 400-acre Farncombe Estate, in the heart of the Cotswolds countryside.
More a collection of quirky spaces than it is a hotel, The Fish comprises three farmhouses housing rooms and suites, as well as a collection of unique standalone buildings scattered throughout the grounds which have each been individually designed to connect guests with nature.
Think rustic interiors with exposed wooden frames and Scandinavian-chic decor, rooms heated by wood-fired stoves, outdoor heated bathtubs. Wherever you stay, The Fish impels you to feel cosy and at one with nature.
One of the most standout accommodations is the Treehouse; a timber-framed building nestled amongst the trees in the woodland, which is the perfect place for a magical escape with the family.
Meanwhile, couples can find a romantic escape in ‘Boaty McBoatface’ – a luxury custom-built Shepherd’s hut hidden beside a woodland lake, that enjoys an outdoor and indoor bathtub, as well as access to a private island accessible only by rowboat.
At the core of the hotel is the Lodge, central communal space that, with its cosy corners, squashy sofas and fireplaces aplenty, is the definition of comfort. Come here to find a quiet nook to relax, to fine on fine seafood at Hook, the in-house restaurant, or grab an evening drink at the bar.
Whether you are looking for a short break in England or a longer escape, The Fish is the perfect home away from home and, situated in the Cotswolds countryside, is in prime position to enjoy everything that this region has to offer.
Filled with historic towns and picturesque rolling hills aplenty – there is something for everyone, be it families, couples or friends travelling together.
68 rooms, suites and spaces, each individually decorated in warm pastel tones and exposed timber frames and opulent woven fabrics and include features such as an outdoor bathtub, a jacuzzi, underfloor heating and woodburning stoves.
Choose from a number of different types of rooms and suites, including Medium Room, Medium Luxe Room, Terrace Room, Veranda Room, Small Suites, Big Suites, which are set within the Farmhouse, the Couch House or the Stables. Across the grounds, there are also several standalone properties: Hilly Hut, Hideaway Hut, Boaty McBoatface and the Treehouse, which are set amongst the hills, the woodland or next to the private lake.
Laid back restaurant, with a cosy interior designed by Hannah Lohan, serving rustic yet innovative seafood dishes created by the Farncombe Estate’s culinary director, Martin Burge. Ease back next to the central wood fire with warming comfort food such as Fowey mussels in white wine and parsley, battered brill, or crab risotto.
On an outdoor deck looking out over the grounds, groups of 10 to 20 people can enjoy a three-course barbecue prepared on charcoal and woodfired ovens by expert chefs.
The social hub of the hotel, where you can’t help but linger. This large space, littered with quiet corners, squashy armchairs and plush blankets, centres around a remarkable 360º fireplace that is at once spacious and cosy. Come here for a laid-back spot to enjoy a Cotswolds-brewed craft beer and a book or come along with a group for wine and a taco feast.
Each Monday-Saturday between 2pm and 5pm or Sundays between 3pm and 5pm, join the Bar & Lounge for a selection of classic tea-time treats and finger food served with Hoogly Tea, a glass of Champagne or Cotswolds Distillery gin.
