Arrive at the sleek reception area at Water Gardens after a relaxing journey through a lush carpet of paddy fields and greenery.
As soon as you step beyond the minimalist reception hall into the resort grounds themselves, you’ll be wowed by the setting.
With the silhouette of Sigiriya, the iconic ancient rock fortress, in the background, the resort is made up of 30 luxury villas set over the water and along a central grassy walkway. Villas are wonderfully appointed with stylish open-plan interiors, secluded gardens and private pools.
The resort’s design is based on Sigiriya’s ancient water gardens and makes for a wonderfully peaceful setting.
You really are immersed in nature – the sound of wildlife makes for an incredible soundtrack as you walk to dinner each evening, and you’re likely to spot peacocks and other native wildlife strutting the grounds as you wander from your villa to the restaurant or the spa. The resort offers guests access to bicycles to explore the local area on days you’re not off on excursions to Sigiriya, Anuradhapura or Minneriya National Park.
Spend days at the resort in your private plunge pool, luxuriating at the soothing spa, or dining at the superb restaurant, which offers both indoor and al fresco dining and a fantastic menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
