West Coast Wilderness Lodge
West Coast Wilderness Lodge is a cliff-side resort set on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast in the tiny fishing village of Egmont. The resort is an easy 3 hour scenic drive from Vancouver and can be incorporated in any British Columbia self-drive holiday, or is reached by a 30 minute float-plane flight from Vancouver or 2 hours from Seattle.
The lodge offers unsurpassed scenery with spectacular views of Sechelt Inlet and exceptional adventure opportunities in the surrounding wilderness. West Coast Wilderness Lodge offers a variety of accommodations, with 26 simple yet comfortable ocean or forest view rooms and suites each featuring spacious sitting areas and private decks.
To fully appreciate the forests, lakes and adventures available at West Coast Wilderness Lodge we recommend a stay of at least two nights. The lodge offers kayak, canoe and fishing equipment rentals and you are free to explore the wilderness alone or you may choose to join one of the guided activities. Guided zodiac excursions take you deep in to the inlets, around islands and through exhilarating rapids, you may be lucky enough to spot grizzly bears on the water's edge, other wildlife you may see include seals, sea lions, eagles and osprey. The area is known for the world-famous Skookumchuck Rapids, where some of the world's best kayaker's come to shoot the rapids. You can hike to the rapids from West Coast Wilderness Lodge or borrow the lodges mountain bikes. You can explore this rugged wilderness by seaplane or helicopter, a 30 minute seaplane flight will take you to Phantom Lake surrounded by forests and with turquoise waters caused by rock flour suspended in the water.
Inlets Restaurant at Wild Coast Wilderness Lodge makes the most of the setting with large windows and open decks, offering waterfront views where you can watch cormorants, eagles and the occasional sea lion enjoying the fresh seasonal fare served, complemented by the restaurants extensive wine list.
