Known as the ‘iceberg capital of the world’, Twillingate is a picture-perfect outport town in Newfoundland.

Explore rugged, rocky coastline and streets lined with colourful houses and historic buildings in picturesque Twillingate. Hop on a boat and take to the sparkling water to spot whales, dolphins, seals – and, of course, icebergs.

Twillingate is famous for iceberg-spotting, with the prime season falling between mid-May and July. The town is made up of two islands – North and South Twillingate Islands – joined together by a bridge; the waters around the islands are perfect for spotting the giant chunks of ice that float past, many of them over 10,000 years old.

Soak in the Newfoundland atmosphere as you stroll the streets, wandering between bright houses and rolling fields. Visit the historic root cellars, relics from colonial times; browse charming small shops selling arts and crafts; head to the Twillingate Museum to learn the history of the town; tour the Auk Island winery; or simply hike the nature trails and make the most of the beautiful landscapes.
