The Auberge des Battures is a Quebecois hotel which makes the most of its waterfront setting, looking out across the Saguenay Fjord on one side, against a backdrop of verdant forest and rocky hills to the other.

This prime location in La Baie means that all manner of exciting outdoor activities are on your doorstep, so time spent on the fjord in a kayak or canoe is an absolute must, as are the myriad walking and horse riding trails nearby, during the summer months at least. When winter comes, the scenery and landscapes are just as beautiful, but relaxing forest walks are replaced with snowmobile and dog-sledge tours! Auberge des Battures is also keen on showcasing the local history and heritage with – among other things – visits to nearby villages and cultural shows either at the hotel or performed elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the onsite restaurant could not be better placed to enjoy enchanting panoramic views over the Saguenay fjord and hills beyond, while the variety of food served here is usually a hearty and rustic affair, though with some refined dishes and wherever possible – local ingredients.

There’s a handful of basic services on site such as a small workout room, spa facilities and Wi-Fi though, in truth, it is all about the location, views and outdoor activities to be enjoyed while here.

The colours are neutral and finish is modest throughout all room categories at Auberge des Battures with little to choose between them, quite typical of this style of retreat with their dark wood furnishings, straightforward though relatively modern bathrooms and simple layout. What’s more, is that in addition to the essential mod-cons and amenities, even some of the entry-level rooms come with their own furnished terrace or at least fjord views, from within the room itself.

Standard Forest or Fjord Room

Sleeps: 2 Adults , 2 Children

The Fjord and Forest Room options are the same in terms of their standard, décor and size, both coming with a double or twin setup, armchair, basic amenities and a nice walk-in shower, with the only difference being their view. Some will have access to their own private veranda via French windows, others will simply enjoy the scenery from the comfort of the room, through at least one set of large windows.

Superior Forest or Fjord Room

Sleeps: 2 Adults , 2 Children

Similar in principle to the Standard Room, with the same choice of view, though the Superior option comes with a larger floor plan and as a result – more comforts. These include a sofa, queen bed, bathtub and shower combo plus the all-important private veranda, which alone makes the extra investment worthwhile.

Deluxe Fjord

Sleeps: 2 Adults , 3 Children

More of those fantastic fjord views, but a much larger floorplan and guarantee of a furnished veranda, meaning you can make the most of this idyllic setting without having to leave your own room. With a sofa and space for an extra bed, the Deluxe Fjord is ideal for young families.

Junior Suite Fjord

With a king-size bed, in-room Jacuzzi bath and terrace, the Junior Suite Fjord is a real step up if looking for something a little bit special.
