Farmhouse Inn is the sort of California hotel that, once discovered, you’ll be making plans to come back before you know it.
This is thanks to their superlative service – warm, friendly and unforgettable – as well as exquisite culinary offerings, sumptuous design and memorable experiences that you’ll just want to do all over again.
The farmhouse itself dates back to 1873 and was acquired by brother and sister duo, Catherine and Joe Bartolomei, whose family have devoted themselves to farming in this corner of Sonoma for several generations.
Such a personal tie with the land bestows Catherine and Joe with an authentic passion for all things Sonoma, including wine: not only do they have their own winery, Lost and Found, but have also created a partner program across the region, meaning that guests get exclusive benefits when going for wine tastings at any of multiple personally picked vineyards.
What’s more, Farmhouse Inn is home to a superb Michelin-star restaurant, set against the century-old walls of the original building and using only the finest, freshest ingredients to create stunning Sonoma dishes.
Between wining and dining, you can also pay a visit to the wonderful onsite spa, go for a dip in their outdoor pool or hot tub, and channel your inner child by toasting s’mores on a roaring fire; all before retiring to your country-chic Farmhouse Inn guestroom, a little slice of heaven in itself.
The luxury is in the detail of Farmhouse Inn’s sumptuous guestrooms, where every textile, objet d’art and piece of furniture has been thoughtfully handpicked and presented with purpose. Not only do the 25 rooms and suites also come with cloud-like beds (clad in featherdown duvets), hi-tech flat-screen TVs and en suites with heated marble floors; they are also kitted out with jetted bathtubs, rain showers, organic toiletries and warming fireplaces. A vase of fresh flowers presented in each abode also doesn’t go unnoticed! Some have spacious patios and living rooms while others are more intimate, though every guestroom enjoys free Wi-Fi, nightly turndown service with homemade cookies and – best of all – a personal sommelier program, which sees your minibar stocked with a curated wine collection just for you; considerate indeed.
A Michelin-starred eatery encased in a restored farmhouse from 1873, accompanied by the finest Sonoma wines; the restaurant at Farmhouse Inn is simply astonishing. Headed up by siblings Catherine and Joe Bartolomei who come from a family of Forestville farmers, the cuisine here is mouth-watering to say the least, thanks to an innovative menu that draws on fresh, local produce either from the nearby markets or estate itself. There are multi-course, tasting and wine-pairing menus; plates such as miso-glazed pork belly and kombu-cured Hamachi – though this is just a taste of what’s to come when you dine at Farmhouse Inn. Note that the restaurant is only open for dinner from Thursday to Monday.
Breakfast, however, is served daily until 10am either in the dining room or outdoor patio, and comprises a delectable feast of a spread. You can opt for a two-course breakfast which begins with the pastry of the day, alongside teas, coffees and juices, before moving on to a lovingly prepared main dish such as healthy macro bowls, quiche or farmhouse plate, to name a few; there are also a la carte options available too.
Activities and Entertainment
Wine-sampling is, naturally, likely to be on your agenda while exploring Sonoma County, and Farmhouse Inn is a fantastic base from which to do so. Not only can you enjoy winery tastings at any vineyard across Sonoma and Napa, you can also embark on sommelier-led wine tours in a Tesla Model X from here and also make the most of Farmhouse Inn’s partner program, offering exclusive perks for hotel guests who visit their handpicked regional wineries. Aside from wine, you might then like to jump in the car to explore the Californian coast, or simply relax by the pool and toast s’mores by the firepit; bliss.
Farmhouse Inn is a beautiful Sonoma hotel with decadent facilities, such as the heated outdoor pool (seasonal), Jacuzzi tub and fire pit, where cosying up with a glass of wine is a heavenly way to end the day. One of the best highlights of all, however, is the Farmhouse Spa – which the hotel likes to call a farm-to-table spa experience. Using produce straight from their own gardens (such as cider apples and spring forest honey), therapists are ready and waiting to pamper you on your visit to Sonoma County. Don’t miss the Farmhouse Massage or Scrub, Rub and Shrub treatment!
