Mesa Verde & Durango (Colorado)

View All Holidays

Near to the borders of Utah lies the Mesa Verde National Park, a unique park within the state, where it is possible to see nearly 600 ancient cliff dwellings. These date back to AD 600 – 1300, when the Ancestral Pueblo people inhabited this area. Meaning ‘Green Table’, it is well worth taking a guided tour of this park. Stay for a night in the nearby towns of Cortez and Durango or in the park at the rustic Far View Lodge.

Whilst in Durango, a traditional western town complete with a saloon, travel aboard one of the famous railroads, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad on the three and a half hour journey (a van service can be booked for the journey back). Since 1882, this railroad was used to transport silver and gold ore from the San Juan Mountains, but for the last 131 years, it has been used as a historic train. We are able to book your train date and time in advance, please let us know if you would like to upgrade to the Presidential or First Class, for a more luxurious experience.
