Lotte New York Palace has an interesting history, which is clear to see in its striking façade and interiors alike.
It was first built in 1882, as a collection of city mansions designed to emulate a neo-Renaissance style of architecture, but was eventually entrusted to the good hands of Lotte Hotels by the 21st century.
The resort group have well and truly enhanced this heritage building with sophisticated contemporary flair, evident in the Towers Block which teeters above the city skyline and encases hundreds of unquestionably luxurious guestrooms; a real treat for all who are lucky enough to stay here.
Much of the original features actually remain, including the gold-clad formal areas and stunning marble staircase, while views of St Patrick’s Cathedral right opposite are exploited wherever possible (including in the fitness centre).
Many rooms and suites also overlook this Midtown highlight, with the higher categories affording more privileged NYC vistas from their huge windows; the Towers Penthouse Suites are particularly impressive, spread across three floors with outdoor terraces to boot.
Lotte New York Palace also presents its guests with a variety of gourmet offerings, including a speakeasy bar, handsome lounge and the Villard Room which is where your delectable breakfast will be served. So, start your day with one of the tempting dishes here, before heading out onto Madison Avenue and enjoying the very best of Midtown, New York.
Rooms and suites are divided into two buildings: The Palace and The Towers, with the latter housed in the top 14 floors for superior views. No matter which accommodation type you go for, you’ll be treated to perks such as flat-screen TVs, Molton Brown toiletries, a minibar and wide windows that promise views of the city; we particularly love those that overlook the Cathedral.
This is the place to come for creative breakfast dishes, segueing into long brunches at the weekend. Feast on mouth-watering plates such as the gruyere, spinach and tomato omelette, or lemon ricotta pancakes topped with dulce de leche butter, within the sheer opulence of this 19th century dining room. Then, return for wine, beer or craft cocktails in the Gold Room Bar later in the day; anyone who loves a Bloody Mary need look no further, as there are four different types available here.
A delicatessen brimming with the finest sweet and savoury snacks, Pommes Palais is a treasure trove of gourmet delights; simply too good to resist!
Head down to this speakeasy-style bar for imaginative cocktails within an atmospheric setting, prepared using only the very best ingredients.
This evening-only haunt is an upscale affair with its mood-lit lounge, wooden accents and luxe furnishings. Sip fine liquors, perhaps choosing from the long list of whiskies, maybe opt for a champagne or wine; the sommelier-curated menu is impressive to say the least.
Activities and Entertainment
Between 5-6pm, from Monday to Saturday, the hotel puts on a tantalising spread of sweet delicacies in the lobby; the perfect welcome after a day out in New York. Then, on select evenings, the Lotte New York Palace plays host to Steve Cohen and his Chamber Magic show; a thrilling experience taking place in the Madison Room – be sure to book tickets in advance. On top of this, the resort is well-placed in Midtown New York, taking around 15 minutes to reach Central Park on foot, 20 minutes to the Empire State Building and with immediate access to the iconic Madison Avenue.
Keep fit in the hotel’s fitness centre, where wide windows look out over St Patrick Cathedral opposite. It’s also home to a lovely spa, providing a menu of massage therapies and treatments such as sugar-glow body scrubs, hot stone massage, the Palace signature facial and royal manicure, to name a few. Lotte New York Palace also offers a complimentary house car service, shuttle to the theatre district and Wall Street, plus concierge service and in-room dining too.
