The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch is a hideaway nestled at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains in the Shell Valley of north central Wyoming. Usually the ranch accommodates between 15 to 25 guests a week, with a maximum of 32 guests, allowing a more personal experience. In high season, there is a horse guest ratio of 80 horses to 25 guests!
The Hideout offers a cozy central lodge, with two large dining tables, a wood stove, armchairs and a large deck with fine views. You will be accommodated in Western-style air-conditioned with stylish ranch style furniture, comfortable king or queen beds and porch with rocking chairs from where you can relax and take in the breath-taking views across the emerald green lawns to Shell Canyon. Once a week, evening entertainment consists of cowboy singers and if weather permits a cook-out. Hearty Western fare and gourmet dinners are in the grand dining room where guests mingle and share the days adventures.
Riders need to be in good physical health as rides can be anything from two-and-a-half-hours to eight hours, and you may ride at altitudes to well above 11,000-feet so it can often be physically challenging. Besides riding there is a variety of seasonal non-riding activities including fly-fishing, hiking and mountain biking, 4X4 scenic tours and visits to discover dinosaur tracks. Back at the ranch you can relax and soothe your aching muscles in the ranches lap pool and take in the stunning panoramic views.
