Holidays to North Carolina are not complete without a visit to the beautiful and much photographed coast. Wilmington is a charming town with shops, restaurants and a good nightlife. Docked here is the Battleship North Carolina and in April, the Azalea Festival takes place, a true celebration of Southern life. The iconic Outer Banks are home to America’s tallest lighthouse and the acclaimed beach of Cape Hatteras. In the Brunswick Islands, take a swing at one of the 35 golf courses and be sure to visit Calabash, the home of seafood, for a bite to eat.
Get outdoors in North Carolina with a visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, shared with Tennessee, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Travel this beautiful area and along the way pause at the art galleries and craft breweries, or perhaps take the family to the Tweetsie Railroad, the state’s first theme park. Asheville is a haven for golf as well as outdoor adventure; go hiking in Chimney Rock, zip lining in Navitat and explore Biltmore, America’s largest home. In Pisgah National Forest, see the Looking Glass Falls, go white water rafting, take a slide down Sliding Rock and explore the beautiful hardwood forest.
