With over 30 breweries, countless food carts and farmers markets, there’s always plenty to eat and drink in Portland. Wander around the walk-able downtown or cycle, like a local, visit the Pioneer Courthouse Square, Lan Su Chinese Garden, the Oregon Zoo and Museum of Science and industry, and of course, shop, with 0% sales tax! Before departing for the coast, you might wish to explore the wine regions of the state.

Journeying along the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, pause at Seaside, Cannon Beach, Newport, Waldport, Yachats, Florence and Gold Beach near the end; be sure to spend some nights where you can. For something unique, try your hand at being a cowboy at the Long Hollow Ranch before heading out to the beaches.

From the coast travel under five hours to the Crater Lake National Park, the only National Park in the state consisting of a breathtaking lake and islands. Best explored from late June to mid-September, drive on the Rim Drive and be sure to book the Volcano Boat and Wizard Island Tour in advance, to see this special island formed by the volcano eruption.
