Casa San Agustin
Some 300 years of history exudes from the walls of Hotel Casa San Agustin, harking back to a time when these three buildings were part of an all-important aqueduct.
The hotel celebrates these roots by carefully preserving its old frescos, vaulted ceilings and stone walls while bringing the space firmly into the modern world with luxurious facilities such as their irresistible swimming pool. This serene space is peppered with green plants and white sun loungers, lining the L-shape of turquoise water which beckons you to cool off in the heat of the Cartagena sun.
Aside from the elegant design found across each of the rooms and communal spaces of Casa San Agustin, the hotel is also a draw for foodies. Its restaurant, ALMA, is one of the leading haunts in Cartagena, with a menu and décor that shifts with the seasons. The star of the show at ALMA is undoubtedly its seafood, with dishes such as tangy Ceviche and warming chowder among the many tantalising plates to choose from.
Breakfast is no less indulgent, with lip-smacking treats served alongside champagne to start the day as you mean to go on! Spend your time by the pool, exploring Cartagena’s warren of flower-laced streets on bikes borrowed from the hotel, or upon Casa San Agustin’s rooftop terrace to take in the views of this historic Caribbean city, while sipping on your complimentary tea or coffee.
