Tortuguero National Park Holidays

Tortuguero National Park is often referred to as the ‘mini Amazon’, such is its incredible biodiversity.

The verdant coastal park lies on a large floodplain and is cross-sectioned by a network of canals, where an abundance of birdlife, frogs, fish and monkeys flourish. Holidays to Tortuguero National Park are best enjoyed when exploring the waterways by boat, where you can sail along the canals and watch turtles lay eggs; some 40,000 arrive each year between July and October and it is the most important breeding site in the Caribbean.

Tortuguero’s dark sandy beaches, forests, canals and lagoons are protected, and access can only be gained by boat or air, meaning it’s a haven away from the more widely visited national parks of Costa Rica. Tortuguero National Park holidays attract wildlife lovers, but its remoteness and peace offers relaxation for everyone.
