This bustling city offers plenty in the way of nightlife, gourmet cuisine and shopping, but there are lots of cultural sites and landmarks to visit, too. Just some of the unmissable places include the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine and the Tokyo Skytree.
Find great nightlife in Shinjuku, stumble across new fashions in Shibuya and browse the upmarket boutiques and restaurants of Ginza.
Day 1 Hiroshima
Day 2 Hiroshima
Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel, before heading out with your guide for some amazing sightseeing. Explore the city’s tragic history and see the amazing Genbaku Dome and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum. Next travel by ferry to Miyajimaguchi and head to Miyajima, home of the iconic Itsukushima Shrine. Next, you’ll travel by bullet train to Kyoto, and check-in to your hotel.
Day 3 Kyoto
After breakfast, you will journey to the Arashiyama district. Visit the famous bamboo groves and walk across the Togetsukyo Bridge, one of the area’s most recognisable landmarks. If you wish, stop by Tenryuji Temple. This afternoon you will enjoy a guided walk through Kyoto, visiting Tatsumi Bridge, Nishiki Market and the Pontocho area. This evening, enjoy a sushi dinner (optional).
Day 4 Kyoto
Another day to explore Kyoto. The Fushimi Inari Shrine is an important site in Shintoism and is renowned for its torii gates. Today you’ll also visit Nijo Castle, Ryoanji Temple and the famous Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Walk through the Higashiyama District, stopping in the historic districts of Sannen-zaka and Ninen-zaka, the perfectly preserved Nene no Michi Lane and at Yasaka Pagoda.
Day 5 Kyoto
Head to the station for your bullet train journey on to Tokyo. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Today you will have the chance to visit the Meiji Shrine and tour the bustling Shibuya District. Tonight, perhaps enjoy an entertaining teppanyaki dinner.
Day 6 Tokyo
Take in spectacular panoramic views of the city from the Tokyo Skytree; the tallest building in Japan is also home to an aquarium and a shopping mall. Next, you will visit the Sensoji Temple before heading to Ginza for a traditional tea experience. This evening there is an option for a dinner cruise along the Sumida River.
Day 7 Tokyo
Explore Koukyo, the Imperial Palace. Next, you’ll wander through Akihabara – a district of the city known for its plentiful electronics shops and stores. You’ll also have time to discover Shinjuku; a vibrant and busy entertainment area. Here you’ll find the Robot Restaurant – a truly unique dining experience!
